“I have set myself the goal of creating artworks that point the viewers to the “spiritual” in them. Since this theme is multi-layered and profound, I work with series that take up individual aspects of our divine nature and also deal with the many obstacles to our development toward our true identity as spiritual beings.
These series are the result of a decades-long search for the meaning of life and my own identity. Through many crises in my life, I inwardly grew into a new being by having actually experienced the themes addressed in my art and having been personally changed.

The “spiritual” in art or the search for it is nothing new: in the Middle Ages, art served to depict biblical content. In the Renaissance there were many artists such as Raphael who depicted deeper spiritual truths in their art. And in more recent times, artists such as Kandinsky or Mondrian sought ways to make the “spiritual” visible through art. In my view, Picasso also belongs to this current, in that with his distorted portraits he painted the spiritual condition of present-day humanity.

With my art I take up these currents of art history by processing my own experiences into artworks, thus, in the sense of Kandinsky and Mondrian, making the “spiritual” experienceable when viewing my art. But also in the sense of Picasso, by picking out as a central theme possible paths toward the “un-distortion” of humanity, that is, perfecting the spiritual condition of us human beings.”
